Whether the material a first deployment needs is reachable, understood and usable.

01 For the use case you would start with, do you know where the data lives and who owns it?
02 Can that data be reached programmatically — an API, a warehouse, a database?
03 Do you know its quality — completeness, freshness, duplication?
04 Are there documented restrictions on how it may be used — contracts, consent, residency?
05 Could you produce a representative sample dataset for a pilot within two weeks?

Identity & access

Who and what can reach your systems — including the tools nobody approved.

06 Is single sign-on enforced across the SaaS applications people actually use?
07 When someone leaves, how quickly does their access actually end?
08 Do you know which AI tools your staff are using today?
09 Can you scope access for a non-human identity — a service account or an agent?

Governance

Whether you could answer a regulator, a board or an auditor without a scramble.

10 Is there a written position on acceptable AI use that staff have actually seen?
11 Do you know which regulations apply to your AI use?
12 Is there a named person accountable for AI risk?
13 Could you show an auditor which system made a given decision, and on whose authority?
14 Are there approval thresholds for AI spend and for actions taken automatically?

Skills & operating model

Whether the organisation can absorb, run and keep a thing once it is built.

15 Is there someone in-house who can technically assess a vendor claim?
16 Has a previous AI or automation pilot reached production?
17 Is there a route for a team to request and get a new tool approved?
18 Is there budget assigned, or would this require a new business case?
